Dark and Glitched

DNG-9904 - The Possessed Printer

Last modified: April 28, 2025

"It was supposed to be a simple office printer—nothing special, just a machine designed to churn out paper at the press of a button. But when a small marketing agency bought the second-hand model from an online auction, it quickly became clear this printer wasn’t like the others. The messages it printed weren’t part of any standard workflow. They were threatening, cryptic, and often, they came at the worst possible moments. Soon, people started to ask: Who—or what—was sending these messages?"

Brand: █████

Known for its reliable office equipment, █████ made machines that businesses depended on. Their models were seen as affordable, no-frills printers. But this one, with a dark history, was a far cry from the standard fare.

Model: █████ X-400

The X-400 was marketed as a high-volume printer perfect for busy offices. It boasted fast printing speeds, decent quality, and an efficient paper-handling system. However, its reliability became questionable once it began to malfunction in the most unusual way.

Serial Number: PCX-400-5678A

The serial number, located at the bottom of the printer, looked typical—nothing about it raised alarms. But after the disturbing events began, some curious tech experts ran a search for it in the manufacturer’s database. Strangely, the serial number came up blank. It was as though the printer didn’t officially exist at all.

Key Features (Before the Curse)

At first glance, the █████ X-400 seemed like an average office printer:

  • Print Speed: Capable of producing 35 pages per minute.
  • Resolution: 1200 x 1200 DPI for sharp, crisp documents.
  • Wireless Printing: Can connect to the office Wi-Fi for remote printing.
  • Energy Efficient: Designed to reduce power consumption without sacrificing performance.

A great choice for any office—except when it starts printing more than just work documents.

When Things Took a Dark Turn

Everything seemed normal for the first few weeks after the printer was set up in the office. But then, the strange messages started appearing on printed pages. The first one said simply:

“I see you, don’t pretend you’re not watching.”

Soon, the messages became more threatening:

  • “Stop looking for me. I will find you.”
  • “You’re next.”
  • “I know your secrets.”

At first, the staff thought it was a prank. But the messages kept coming, even when no one had used the printer. It wasn’t long before they realized something sinister was at play.

Discovery

The printer was discovered on a Thursday afternoon, after a series of particularly chilling messages appeared. The office workers, fed up with the strange occurrences, decided to look into the printer’s settings and history. To their shock, the machine’s internal logs had been wiped clean. There was no record of any print jobs—yet, the paper kept spitting out threats.

The Weird Behavior

The printer didn’t act like a normal device anymore:

  • Unexplained Activation: The printer would turn itself on, often when no one was near. Sometimes, it would print messages in the middle of the night.
  • Text That Changed: The messages printed weren’t static. Words would shift, change, or even disappear midway through.
  • Paper Jam or Not: Paper jams would occur at random, and when cleared, the machine would print something even more unsettling.
  • Untraceable Source: No one was ever logged into the printer when the threatening messages appeared, and there was no digital trace of any input.

The Experiment

A few brave souls tried to test the limits of the Possessed Printer in the hopes of understanding its behavior:

  • Isolation Test: They disconnected the printer from the network, thinking it might be getting commands from an external source. The messages continued, now appearing as if the printer itself was speaking without any input.
  • Reset Attempts: Several factory resets failed to remove the issue. Each time the printer was rebooted, the same series of messages would start appearing again, almost as if the printer had a memory of its own.
  • Print Test: They tried printing blank pages to see if the machine would output anything unusual. The printer printed the word “HELP” repeatedly, followed by “I WILL NEVER STOP.”

A Word of Caution

The Possessed Printer is currently sealed away in a secured location. Attempts to destroy it or remove its components have been unsuccessful. Even without paper, the machine emits a low hum, and the occasional faint whisper can be heard when near it.

If you ever find yourself using a second-hand printer, especially one with no identifiable history, be cautious. Some devices—especially the ones that seem too good to be true—might bring more than just work into your life.
